About my bringing up.

My Name Is Rich Leonard (Renegade Rich💯)

I was raised at Robinson Bar Ranch in Stanley Idaho. My dad Joe Leonard started on the ranch in the early to mid 60’s as a caretaker in the middle of the winter. That next summer Dad talked the owners of the ranch into making it a dude ranch.

Growing up at Robinson Bar Ranch in Stanley Idaho was a truly unique experience that shaped me into the person I am today. The ranch, nestled in the breathtaking Valleys of Sawtooth Mountains, was not just a place to live, but a way of life. From the early mornings spent tending to the fire wood for the lodge, the only way to heat the loge at that time, getting to and from school in the winters, tending to the 30 horses we had not to mention doing the dishes every moment at Robinson Bar Ranch was filled with hard work, laughter, and a deep connection to the land and the people that visited the ranch.

The ranch has a rich history, dating back to the early 1800s when it was first established as a stage coach stop.

As a child, I spent my days exploring the vast expanse of the ranch about 128 acers, riding horses, and helping out with chores. I learned the value of hard work and the importance of life from a young age. My father, Joe Leonard, was a strict but fair mentor, teaching me the ins and outs of life and instilling in me a deep love and respect for people, nature and the environment.

One of my memories of growing up at Robinson Bar Ranch was skiing 4 miles a day to catch the school bus. The Bus driver at that time was named Mr. Bradshaw He lived out by the ranch so he had to pick me and my brother up first. We then rode about 178 miles to school. Stanley only being 29 miles way from the ranch turn off, we had to go to Stanley first then about 15 miles out to a place we called Howdyville (if I remember the name right) then back to Stanley another 15 miles, then out to he other side of Obsidian to pick up the last kids about another 15 miles out. Then the last leg back to Stanley where the bus driver Mr. Bradshaw doped us off and then became the teacher from 5th to 8th grade. Total miles on the bus just to get to school was about 89 miles! Then after school Mr. Bradshaw became the bus driver again and revised the route leaving me and my brother with about 178 miles on the bus a day!

As I look back on my childhood at Robinson Bar Ranch, I am grateful for the lessons I learned and the memories I made. The ranch will always hold a special place in my heart, a place where I was raised with love, hard work, and a deep connection to the land.
